Dottie Sines scratched out her first attempts at fiction as a kid transfixed by the books she read—Curious George and Nancy Drew, Gone with the Wind and Little Women—all those lazy summer days on the porch swing of her small-town, Midwestern home.
When not managing the interlibrary loan department at a college, Dottie contributes to multiple newspapers and magazines. Her short stories and non-fiction pieces have
won many awards. Her first novel, Where the Stars Cross, was published in 2024 by The Wild Rose Press. Stay tuned for more books from Dottie.

Dottie has twice been honored as one of ten winners in the annual short story contest of the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park, which published her winning stories in its literary journal, Hemingway Shorts.

In the depths of the Great Depression, Ellie suffers another crash—that of her marriage, leaving her feeling as damaged as the stained-glass panels she refurbishes for Chicago’s historic structures. Uncertain of her place now, she slips away to Marietta, Ohio, a charming river town. There, she meets towboat captain Wyatt and feels a searing attraction to him.
In her journey to love again and find the place she belongs, Ellie draws on an unrealized
level of courage and learns she must identify her brightest passions in charting her course.
BELOW, scenes from Where the Stars Cross: the venerable Chicago, the magnificent Tiffany stained-glass dome at the Chicago Cultural Center, historic Harmar Bridge, the legendary Levee House building, at riverfront in Marietta, and the century-old Harmar Tavern.

As a lifelong reader, Dottie always dreamed of one day holding in her hands a book she had written, a book which might in some small way inspire readers and which would
live on in a few bookcases. Following countless hours writing at home and in historical, downtown coffee shops, that dream came true in 2024 when The Wild Rose Press published Where the Stars Cross.

Praised by readers and reviewers alike, Where the Stars Cross has received numerous 5-star ratings. It has been called descriptive, emotional, a heartwarming tale with vivid descriptions, and a fascinating and skillfully woven story. The book appeared for over two months on Amazon's Hot New Releases List in 20th Century Historical Romance.
